The dimensions and measures library has a really handy search function to help end users find fields and measures that they want to drag onto a visualisation. Sometimes the fields are not in the most helpful names, especially if they have been pulled directly from a Database.
Sometimes the business will actually have completely different naming conventions for fields. This can make their life hard in the front end. Luckily there is a way to help users out of this sticky situation by taging fields with more useful terms. These will fields will then show up when the user searches for them in the library.
You could tag the area of a particular report the measure or dimension is used, like ‘profit and loss summary’ or ‘exceptions list’. This is a great way to transition users away from old static reports with defined sections.
